Sunday, 16th June, 2013. On the beach in Fuengirola.

For the third year we are planning a simple reading, swim or paddle off the beach on Bloomsday this year. It conveniently falls on a Sunday.

What makes our event a little different is that the readers are encouraged to read their pieces in their own language. This is a fun, non intellectual, nor threatening event.

And it is FREE. All that is required is that you turn up in time to participate. It will be a memorable occasion. A fun get together providing the opportunity to become fully immersed in – sea water.

Bloomsday – June 16th – is an annual celebration among Joyce fans throughout the world, from Fuengirola to Melbourne. It is celebrated in at least sixty countries worldwide, but nowhere so imaginatively, of course, as in Dublin. The novel, Ulysses, by James Joyce recounts the hour-by-hour events of one day in Dublin – June 16, 1904 – as an ordinary Dubliner, Leopold Bloom, wends his way through the urban landscape, the odyssey of a modern-day Ulysses.

07.45: Beach assembly. In front of the Hotel Florida.

08:00: Divest and dive into “the snot green scrotum tightening sea” – heated by the Spanish summer sunshine.

08:30: Readings* lead off by those present followed up by voluntary readings by like-minded male and female participants in their own language wearing varieties of various costumes, hats and beachwear.

9:30: Had enough? OK, then lets Swim, Dip or Paddle again before adjourning to a local Chiringito (La Cepa Playa) for toast, olive oil, coffee and chat.

* all readings will be c. one page long.

We organize hiking of “La Concha de Marbella”, also called Sierra Blanca, at Sunset.

“La Concha”, with 1.215m of height, is the amazing mountain right in the back of Marbella city.

The Sundancer 300 offers great space both inside and outside. A double helm bench seat makes cruising a lot more comfortable and the lower cockpit area can easily be turned into a large sun pad with filler cushions : great for sun lovers or kids to play on. Down below the cabin offers a good flow and plenty of light with four portlights and three deck hatches.

We propose 2 packages :

1. Gibraltar from the sea
We would leave Estepona around 10.00, cruise to Europa point – the southernmost point in Europe – and out into the Straits with the chance of seeing dolphins (and occasioanlly even pilot whales) before entering the Bay of Algeciras, full of merchant vessels waiting to cross the straits to North Africa and beyond. After this Rock tour, we will cruise back to the port of Sotogrande, where we will tour the canals and moor up for 30 minutes onshore, before cruising back to Estepona, stopping to anchor at a beach on the way for swimming and relaxing. We would be back at the Estepona harbour at around 13.30.

2. Gibraltar day charter
In this excursion we would leave Estepona at 11.00, cruise to Europa point – the southernmost point in Europe – and out into the Straits with the chance of seeing dolphins (and occasioanlly even pilot whales) before entering the Bay of Algeciras, full of merchant vessels waiting to cross the straits to North Africa and beyond. We will moor up in Ocean Village in Gibraltar at around 12.30, disembark and enjoy 3 hours ashore (free time) in fascinating Gibraltar, with its pubs and restaurants – and of course its duty free shopping!
We will leave Gibraltar for the cruise back to Estepona at around 3.30, and will also stop at the port of Sotogrande on the way, and cruise through its canals before heading back out to sea, and arriving back in Estepona at around 17.30.

This new activity is oriented to groups of min 10 pax, so being ideal for stag parties, corporate events (team building, incentives, activities after conferences, etc), private parties, etc.

After a brief introduction to the segway, and a period of practice, let’s start the games.

According to the total number of participants, we will enjoy several challenging games, like for example :

- speed test : as a relay race, each participants has to make an easy circuit and pass the segway to the following participant. The fastest team wins, and points are allocated accordingly.

- agility test : each participant will have 3 balls to throw in a basketball basket. This is not time based, as points are allocated only when the ball get through the basket.

- speed and agility test:  just as the speed test, but on a much more complex circuit with cones and other obstacles that will prevent the participants to drive too fast. Every touched obstacle will generate a time penalty.

This activity can be done in the parking of your hotel, on a beach promenade, on a tennis court or or any area offering enough room. We can organize with with your hotel of residence or propose alternative venues if need be.

The events generally include :

• Segways
• Segway instructor
• Event manager and assistants
