The Climate in Marbella

Marbella’s rumoured ‘micro-climate’ is a fact. It renders an average temperature of 19º C throughout the year. Sheltered by the high peaks of the Sierra Blanca (Marbella, 1.215 m and Juanar 1.160 m) the climate of Marbella is supposedly more soothing than in any other neighbouring location.

Winters are mild with relatively little precipitation and summers are warm without being suffocating. It only rains occasionally from November thru March (the rain being insignificant the rest of the year), the wind blows frequently from the East and the weather is sunny more than 320 days a year.

Marbella county covers a total area of 114.3 sq km and 27 km along the beaches. It comprises several important urban areas: Marbella, San Pedro de Alcántara, Puerto Banús, Nueva Andalucia and Las Chapas, as well as several suburbs. Marbella is surrounded by Estepona, Benahavís, Istán, Ojén and Mijas.

Marbella Weather – Rivers

Water courses run mainly short distances and flow straight into the Mediterranean sea. The most important ones are the Guadalmina, Gaidaiza, Verde y Real. There are also lots of little streams that have been sometimes grounded by the town. The Concepción reservoir (able to hold approximately 56 hm3), and several other dams (Pantano Nuevo, Viejo y Medranas) complete the hydrographic scenario.
