German Contemporary Artist, Isa Genzken, Exhibits at CAC Malaga


Contemporary artist, Isa Genzken, is exhibiting her latest work at CAC Malaga which will be running until January 22nd.

Isa Genzken Exhibition:

Born in Germany in 1948, Isa Genzken has her last exhibition on display at CAC Malaga, titled Mona Isa, which consists of a series of paintings, collages and sculptures. In this exhibition, Isa Genzken shows us a number of iconic figures in the history of art, particularly concentrating on Renaissance, Da Vinci, Caravaggio and German printmaker and painter, Dürer.

Isa Genzken uses a variety of materials, media and technologies. Her work takes on many different forms with the columns and sculptures, paintings, collages and installations expressing social, cultural and personal relationships with people, spaces and the architectural structures that surround it. Although it is based on sophisticated contemporary materials, Isa Genzken maintains a traditional perspective.

Her main focus has always been sculpture, however, over the span of her career, she has worked with a variety of media including photography, film, video, works on paper and canvas, collages, and books.

Isa Genzken has her work shown in the collections of many leading international museums including the Carnegie Museum of Art in Pittsburgh, the Generali Foundation in Vienna, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., the Museum Ludwig in Cologne and the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven.

She has also won several awards such as the Wolfgang-Hahn-Prize (Museum Ludwig, Cologne) in 2002 and the International Art Prize (Cultural Donation of SSK Munich) in 2004.

The CAC Malaga exhibition opening times are from 6pm to 9pm.
