International Day of Action for Women’s Health

Observed since 1987, this is a worldwide initiative to spread awareness about the women’s unique and most important health needs, thereby making national governments to improve female healthcare. On this day, women’s are recognised and praised for their contribution to society and hence the significance to empowering women and championing their rights.

As reported by Amnesty International, more than half a million women die each year from various complications related to pregnancy and childbirth – one every minute – and it’s a mission to ask governments to address issues like maternal mortality and the overall reproductive health rights along with social and economic barriers such as the cost of medical treatment and access to health facilities.
