On Friday the 8th of April at 9pm, the 1st “SAETA” performance will take place at the Laguna Theatre in Mijas – an extraordinary way of learning more about the Spanish Easter Week and its traditions.
Semana Santa traditions can date back to the 16th century when the Church decided to present the story of Christ in a way that the layperson could understand.
The Saeta is a revered Spanish religious song, whose form and style have evolved over many centuries. Saeta is sung most often during street processions during the world famous Semana Santa (Spanish Easter Week).
The Saeta is a spectacular, passionate Flamenco way of singing to the Virgin and Christ.
About the Saeta Performance:
The performance will be given by five flamenco singers accompanied by music performed by Virgen de la Peña and San Sebastian and will be backed up by the 3.40RTV local Television with a film on the “Semana Santa”.
Concerts are not usually given on the Saeta so this is a very unique experience to learn some more about Spanish traditions where not only will one be able to discover the passionate Saetas but also hear them with authentic music used during the spectacular religious processions floating through the white winding streets of Mijas….Not to be missed!
Tickets for the Saeta performance are 5€ per person and can be purchased at the box office from Wednesday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm or two hours before the show begins.
