The Salon Varieties Theatre in Fuengirola proudly presents the hilarious smash-hit musical comedy, The Producers, directed by Peter Mitchell.

With David Vincent as Max Bialystock and Johnny G. playing Leopold Bloom, The Producers is running from March 25th to April the 5th every night at 8pm except Sundays (7pm), with choreography by Peter Height and musical direction by Sylvia Griffiths.

The Producers:

From Mel Brooks´1968 film of the same name, The Producers was written by Mel Brooks (who also wrote the music and lyrics) and Thomas Meehan. The story is about two theatrical producers who scheme and plan to get rich by overselling interests in a Broadway flop. However, when the show unexpectedly turns out to be a success, the complications start when the two of them are then sent off to Sing-sing, where they produce “Prisoners of Love,” another smash flop and Bialystock and Bloom remarkably still land on top.

The original production won an amazing record-breaking 12 Tony Awards (it was nominated for 15), with its opening on Broadway on April 19, 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick. The show went on to run for an incredible 2,502 performances. A successful London production followed, running for three years, with national and international tours and a 2005 film version.

In 2009, the Broadway production of Billy Elliot the Musical received 15 nominations, tying with The Producers for the most nominations received by a show ever.
