- Los Angeles International Medalist 2008
- Warm and fruity flavor
- Like no olive oil you have ever tasted!
Special Selection Señorío de Vizcántar extra olive oil has earned another honor in 2008: the Silver Medal at the 2007 Los Angeles International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition. It has been the favorite of the La Tienda community for years.
Señorío de Vizcántar is our family’s personal favorite – hands down. The blend of juice from picual, picudo, and hojiblanca olives produces a warm and fruity flavor profile — more complex than the flavor limitations inherent in single variety oil.
Think of Señorío as you would a full bodied red wine. As wine is the product of crushed grapes, so is extra virgin olive oil the fruit of cold pressed olives. The varieties of olive oil are myriad – dependent on the olive used and the skill of the blender.
Just as you will never return to bulk wine once you have tasted something better, so also your days of selecting generic mass produced olive oil will soon come to an end, once you realize in Señorío a new world of flavor and excellence.
We went on a quest to find a great olive oil for the La Tienda community. Our search led us to historic Priego de Córdoba, deep in the rugged Sierras Sabaticas Mountains north of Málaga.
There we met Fermín Rodríguez, a master taster who selects for La Tienda his personal favorites among the oils of the region, and bottles under the Señorío label.
It is superb for crisp green salads, or dipping with a crust of bread. But please don’t treat it like liquid gold – it is something to enjoy every day as part of a healthy diet.
