Ely Cathedral Choir:

The choir have impressively performed at The Royal Albert Hall and The Vatican and are touring Southern Spain for the first time in 20 years.

This greatly celebrated group of boy choristers & men are performing in a variety of venues, concluding with their final performance in the Gibraltar Cathedral on the 30th October.

Ely Cathedral Boys Choir has been part of the English Choral tradition since the mid-16th century, and in terms of monastic heritage, its history can be traced back considerably further to the time of King Canute:

“Row nearer my men that we may hear these good monks sing”
Liber Eliensis

The Choir have performed with international artists such as Aled Jones and played for Her Majesty the Queen of England singing such diverse music from Bach to the Beatles!

At present, the Choir consists of 22 boy choristers and seven adult lay clerks. The team is headed by the Organist and Director of Music, Paul Trepte, and his assistant Jonathan Lilley. Many of England’s finest musicians started life as Cathedral choristers. This is no surprise, as professionalism is the hallmark of a cathedral choir!

Under the direction of Paul Trepte, Ely Cathedral Boys Choir is much in demand for radio and television broadcasts, recordings, concerts and constant touring.
