Two Performances by The Oxford Pro Musica Singers on The Costa del Sol

The Oxford Pro Musica Singers (OPMS), founded in 1977, will be performing for 2 nights on the Costa del Sol. The concerts, with free admission, take place on March the 5th at 8pm at the Iglesia San Miguel Arcangel in Torremolinos and on March the 6th in the Casa Museo in Mijas Pueblo at 12 noon.

The Oxford Pro Musica Singers:

Performing a wide range of musical styles from 16th century music to jazz, The Oxford Pro Musica Singers is directed by Michael Smedley who has been associated with choral music for most of his life. He became well known as a choral conductor after singing for eight years in the choir of New College, Oxford and for nearly twenty with pioneering music ensemble, the Clerkes of Oxenford.

As well as performing in Europe, The choir performs in Oxford, as well as all over Britain  including concerts in three of London’s main concert halls: St John’s, Smith Square, The Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room. The Oxford Pro Musica Singers has also represented the UK at choral festivals and competitions abroad, winning a Silver Medal in the prestigious International ‘Florilege Vocal de Tours’ competition in France.

Since the choir began in 1977, it has performed hundreds of concerts of music from all periods and of every style. The choir’s sell-out Christmas concerts are known as an Oxford legend and their large-scale concerts with full orchestra never fail to attract the best of reviews:

‘…the choir itself … must be unrivalled locally for balance and pure tone quality. They performed each piece with careful vivacity…’ – Oxford Times
