Marbella Town Hall through the Delegation of Social Welfare has launched a creative writing contest for elderly. Titled “Escritos Mayores 2010”, this aims to encourage older people of the municipality to develop their creative writing skills.
This literally exhibition for seniors is opened for all persons over 60 years who are registered under the Town Hall. Registration for the contest is currently underway and open until 30th April, 2010. This is a part of a series of programmes developed specifically for the older residents of Marbella.
As per information disseminated by the office of Town Hall, each participant is required to submit 3 works of different genres. Whether it is poetry, fiction, or theatre narrative, works must be original and previously unpublished.
The registration is free of any charge and you can register yourself at any of the dedicated centre for the older people (Centro de Día de Personas Mayores) located in Marbella (Juan Ramón Jiménez, Plaza de Toros), Las Chapa, San Pedro de Alcántara, or at Nueva Andalucía.
The City recently through welfare measures like “Una sonrisa a tu salud” (or “A smile to your health”) has been encouraging healthy behaviour patterns among the elderly. It is a part of Marbella 2010 Año Social (Marbella Social Year 2010) with the aim of promoting habits of healthy behaviours, prevent situations of risk associated with age and improve the quality of life of older.
