ASPANDEM & La Quinta Golf launch academy for disabled

More than 20 kids from Marbella’s ASPANDEM (Asociación a favor de las personas con discapacidad en la Costa del Sol) take part in these specialized lessons, all between the ages of 18 and 35. The lessons take place at the La Quinta Academy’s outstanding facilities, where the disabled students learn the theory and practical laws of the game, as well as etiquette and rules.

These lessons are held every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at La Quinta Golf Academy. It allows members of the ASPANDEM organization to enjoy lessons and activities, overseen by Manuel Piñero and supervised by two full time La Quinta Academy professionals La Quinta golf has amplified its golf Academy tuition programme by teaching the game of golf to people with disabilities, which allows a new way for them to socially integrate.

On the final day, in June, the golf professionals have organised a small tournament, where the students can show off all the different skills they have learned.

The main objective of this course is to improve the quality of life of the students through the game of golf. The Escuela de Golf, La Quinta is determined to continue focusing their attentions on these types of lessons, (together with their “La Quinta Tigers” junior academy), as a way of socially integrating youngsters into our society, whether they are disabled or not.

La Quinta Tigers Golf Academy

Established in 1990 and directed by Manuel Piñero, the la Quinta Tigers Golf Academy offers junior golfers from Marbella the structure and supervision required to enjoy and improve the game of golf.

Lessons are held throughout the year for kids as young as 6 and usually in groups of 10 or less and supervised by at least 3 golf professionals.

At the end of every semester, a tournament is held so that the juniors can compete and use their knowledge on the golf course, with prizes for the top performers.
