Being one of the most elegant cities in southern Spain, Marbella has a high rate of resource consumption which in turn creates huge magnitude of urban waste. Marbella Environmental Centre is working in the management of this high volume of urban waste by using several disposal and recycling technologies and methodologies.
The whole set up of this Centre is based on the objective to reduce the impact of wastes on the local and global environment. Primarily it offers processing of non residential urban waste, including those of construction and demolition waste (RCDs), Waste electrical and electronic equipment, biodegradable waste from parks and gardens, non hazardous industrial waste and bulky waste.
Centro Ambiental uses different methodologies of treatment depending on the nature of the waste. Dedicated plants for each kind of waste further assist in the management and processing of waste. After the proper separation, the environment Centre recycles the largest possible number of waste for reuse.
Apart from fixed, the Centre is also equipped with mobile plants, which individuals can avail free of charge until they exceed the amounts stipulated. It is also helpful for small scale industries in disposing off industrial waste with proper methodology.
In the cleaning and waste selection processes, a variety of methods are used such as mechanical, pneumatic, electric and manual techniques to obtain the best solution that allows reprocessing of the residues into products that have a value.
The Centre accepts the following kinds of waste:
Paper and Cardboard: These are nonhazardous wastes processed separately from other objects; plastic, woods and other packaging don’t come to the list. Business firms can bring in unlimited amount of wastes, while residents are only allowed a limited amount of waste for disposal and recycle.
