Notable Swedish actor, director and sports personality Dolph Lundgren, who has been residing in Marbella with his wife Annette Qviberg and their two daughters for a long time now, has been officially appointed as Ambassador for Marbella by the Town Hall.

Announcing this on Tuesday, Mayor of Marbella, Angeles Munoz, acknowledged the distinguished face by stating that “it was a privilege to have neighbours as distinguished as Dolph, who could choose any place to live and has decided to be with us”.

The actor in turn praised the great atmosphere of the town and hospitality of the locals, “Marbella is a very special place for my family. It’s a marvellous city where we can enjoy life to the fullest”. Dolph is the second Ambassador after the naming of Alejandro Blanco, the President of the Spanish Olympic Committee.

The actor, who is best recognised as the Russian boxer Ivan Drago in the 1985 Hollywood flick Rocky IV, will now promote the name “Marbella” worldwide, as one of the famous resort towns in the southern most region of Costa del Sol. Here is a brief profile of the actor.

So far, the actor has appeared in more than 40 movies and all of them in the action genre. In fact, Dolph belongs to the same league of other renowned action heroes like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Seagal and Van Damme in exemplifying the Hollywood action films.

The actor has appeared in films like A View to Kill (1985), Rocky IV, Master of the Universe (1987) as He-Man, The Punisher (1989), Joshua Tree (1993), The Peacekeeper (1997), The Last Patrol, Agent Red (2000), Missionary Man (2007) and Direct Contact (2008) just to name a few.

He also directed movies like The Defender, The Mechanik, Missionary Man, Command Performance. Apart from his career in films, Lundgren also owns a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Kyokushin karate and medals for winning 1980 and 1981 European championships.

In regard to academic matters, he holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Sydney after graduating from the Royal Institute of Technology.

With such a distinguished career and being amongst the most emblematic celebrity residents, the actor certainly fits to the glitz and glamour image of the town that is renowned as a playground for the wealthy and healthy.
