Environment campaign “Your role is important”

The Marbella Town Hall through the Department of Environment has launched a campaign “Your role is important” (Tu papel es importante) in a mobile class room that raises awareness of the importance of municipal recycling.

As informed by the local authority involved in the campaign, this will attract over 1,500 students of age group 6 to 10 of more than 20 centres. The programmes and learning courses, designed for children, have four basic objectives:

– To familiarize students with the materials making up the trash and which ones can be recycled
– To promote good environmental practices at the household level
– To estimate the impacts generated by residues in the environment
– To implement the 3 Rs: reduce, reuse and recycle

The whole one and half hour long class involves teaching through the boards and educational videos about the use of recycling paper. Instructors will make students understand the benefits of recycling, which allows reuse of waste as raw materials.

Besides, it has also been underlined to educate students about the proper use of water by developing a responsible drinking habit among them, which is crucial not only for children but also for all committed to the environment in the future.

As far as Marbella is concerned, and as per the govt. data, residents in Marbella are more aware about various environmental aspects and it is clearly reflected in the data collection in Marbella that are found above all the national averages.

In the case of containers, Marbella collects over 16.79 kilos set against the 13.50 national and overall, the town exceeds the national average 15.40 kilos with 19.16 kilograms of recyclable waste collection per inhabitant.
