A meeting of Network of Cities of Andalusia Film, convened by Andalucia Film Commission on April 22, 2010, at the headquarters of Turismo Andaluz in Malaga, had released a report of film shooting in the region along with a manual for good film practice.
Marbella Film Office which is a part of this Andalusia film network too presented its effort in promotion of filming in this elegant Costa del Sol town.
The municipal delegate of tourism Marbella, Jose Luis Hernandez, highlighting the effort of Marbella Film Office, said that Marbella Film Office in 2009 attended more than 57 audiovisual projects of all types, of which 3 were movies, television series and programs for filming both national and international, including BBC1, A3, T5, Canal Sur, RTL (Germany) ITV, BBC (England) TF1 (France).
Going by the popularity of Andalusia as one of the popular audiovisual producing destinations in Spain, Marbella too has its share of contribution by hosting numerous similar film production projects. The film office administered under the Delegation of Tourism, Marbella Town Hall, has been providing free service of information, mediation, processing and permission, search of location and advice in general.
It has also been reported that despite the effect of recession in the audiovisual industry with the lack of subsidies, Marbella Film Office in the early months of 2010 has worked in as many as 12 projects in addition to several other proposals on the table to be carried out the months to come.
The promotion of Marbella as a tourist destination has certainly gained momentum in the last few years and at the same time; the Film Office is constantly working to provide better advice and support for film and television producers who want to record in the locality.
Marbella City Council certainly recognizes the economic benefit in promoting the city as an international filmmaking destination. It not only generates foreign currency but also creates employment as diverse professionals working in the process of filmmaking.
And Marbella’s infrastructure, tourist attraction, climate and culture aid the same. Marbella Film Office, on the same way of Andalucia Film Commission, has become a promotional tool for the region. The primary objective is to attract filmmakers and respond to their shootings queries and needs with a high level of professionalism and efficiency.
The Network of Cities of Andalusia Film Commission is the largest in Spain, bringing together approximately 80 municipalities in Andalusia, two County Councils and is being expanded with the addition of new members.
