Born on May 8, 1958 in Génave, Jaén, Aurelio Rodriguez Lopez, is a famous Spanish painter who has excelled in different techniques and styles to draw a mark in modern Spanish painting. Presently he lives in Puerto Banús, Marbella, and constantly exhibits his artistic creations in various occasions.

Even though Aurelio Rodriguez joined university in 1976 to study technical engineering, he later left and decided to be an artist, fulfilling his childhood dream. In 1978, he joined art lessons at Soto Mesa Art School, Madrid and the very next year held the first individual exhibition at the Song Parnass Pub, Madrid.

It was the year 1983 when he travelled to Marbella and spent the summer season painting portraits, which later became benchmark in his creative career. His area of expertise is undoubtedly in those portraits, which developed with his early habit of making drawings and eventually to master with ease.

After spending two years in Tenerife, Germany, where Aurelio Rodriguez Lopez participated in a course in sculpture by Mr.Guillermo Batista Díaz, Arona, he returned to Spain and then travelled to the Kingdom of Bahrain in 1996 to carry out a commission by the Royal Court.

To his curiosity to learn new things Aurelio participated in several courses in etchings, aquatint, linocut and photogravure, besides learning lithography from Ms. José Montañes Garnica, Spanish Museum of Contemporary Etchings, Marbella. In the recent past, in 2009, he also offered a course on “The technique of Electrographic Transfer“at the Office of Arts and Culture, San Pedro de Alcántara, Málaga.

His individual exhibitions are a great display of his mastery in predominant use of oil, pastel, and printmaking, as well as incorporation of the material in combination with the oil, while his ideas come to life with styles of realism, surrealism, abstract and hyperrealism.

As far as the subject of work is concerned, you will find landscapes, nude portrays and figures, still life, walls and things, those together presents his imagination with excellence of techniques. Aurelio’s broad curriculum includes public displays at Madrid, León, Miami, Valencia, Malaga, New York, Munich, Granada, Marbella, Düsseldorf and London.
