Archivo Historico de Marbella or the Historical Archive of Marbella is the documentary heritage of the city that stores numerous written records and objects that are testimony to the foundation of the municipal. The archive reflects the institutional history of the municipal entity and also conserves documents generated by the city for almost five centuries, between 1504 and 1975.
It gives access to numerous papers in relation to the institutional history such as the capacity of council and municipalities to regulate and organize various aspects of life in the administrative region.
However, all documents archived are primarily classified into six major categories: Council/City Council, the Mayor, Commission and Boards, Administration, Services, and Finance. All documents are arranged in a proper chronological order and one would easily find one with ease.
Some of these documents are very old and most edicts are primarily related to developmental activities and economic issues like notices of exposure standards, payment terms, and execution of debts. Alongside them, there are details on numerous authoritative proclamations and the books of resolutions of the Mayor, on an annual basis.
In the service section, there are records of public works, health and welfare charities, education, culture and celebration, population census, agriculture and industry service, traffic and transportation, police and public order, elections, and even some records about military.
