Marbella urban bus service

Recently, the Marbella Town Hall through the Department of Municipal Transports (Municipal de Transportes) has initiated few steps to improve transport service inside Marbella. Labelling buses with routes and proposal to issue monthly city bus passes are among the few that promote better service.

The best ways to travel in Andalucía by public transport is modern city bus service. Presently, there are 19 lines that constitute the urban bus fleet, and the local authority is trying to label all vehicles with their particular route number for easy recognition by the travellers.

Municipal body explains it as helpful when travellers see the signs over the back of city buses, which not only facilitates identification of lines but also avoids accidents, falls and even the loss of carriage. So far only buses running only a couple of lines have been marked and it is expected to cover all vehicles over the coming months.

Spanish Transportation Corporation (CTSA-Portillo), which manages urban transport in 11 cities, including Marbella, has been undertaking the labelling of buses. The Marbella City Council has also asked the company to increase the level of services through various other means.

Meanwhile, with public demands, the delegation of Transport has also facilitated Bus Card for the use of public transport. Bus cards, which priced 6.20 euros (0.80 euros per trip, a saving of 35 cents compared to the regular ticket), are available at eight different bus terminals, including stations of Marbella and San Pedro Alcantara.

Besides, the transportation department is also providing a monthly city bus pass for the price of 36 euros per month, along with the right to use the municipal network without restriction. This bonus is available at the box office No 1 Marbella Bus Station (Estanco de Marbella n0 1), from 9.00 to 13.00 and 16.00 and 19.00 hours, Monday through Friday.
