Correspondents from Marbella Youth Delegation will take part in the commemoration day of Europe Day scheduled between May 7th and May 10th for events taking place in Paris. The day marks the 60th anniversary of Robert Schuman Declaration that gave birth to the European Union.
While announcing this on Thursday, Youth Delegation chief Felix Romero emphasised on the significance of young people of Marbella in representing Spain in such an international forum which will bring together over 550 young people from 27 member countries of EU.
A total of 18 youth correspondents have been selected for participation, and Romero further explained that the European House of Metz Marbella has chosen among all national delegations.
He also thanked the work of Europe House in Marbella since 1993 to promote the values of European feeling and asserted that these young people represent European values, and image of modernity and cosmopolitanism of our city.
The director of the area, Diego Lopez, also added to the discussion by saying that young people in Marbella are part of the delegation that encompasses southern Portugal, Spain and France, and on the 5th of May they all will travel to French town of Cognac to participate in a series of activities under this meeting.
On May 7, they will move to Paris, where they remained until the 10th to participate in forums and conferences on topics related to integration and life forms in different countries of the European Union. And on the final day May 10, as a part of plenary session, young representatives of different nationalities will read a statement to this effect.
The president of Europe House in Marbella, Ricardo Bocanegra, has assured that “it is a unique experience for these young people” and stressed that “all will have the opportunity to visit the places where the European Union was conceived.
In accordance with the upcoming Europe Day events, the Marbella Town Hall, through the delegation of Culture, has also announced to launch next week a series of workshops in schools and colleges of Marbella to promote among youth “the values of equality, democracy and freedom that inspired the emergence of the European Union.”
