Shopping Centres in Andalucia

With the development of southern Spain as a hot favourite tourist spot in Europe, in areas like Andalucia and particularly in cities and town on the Costa del Sol, there are numerous shopping centre and hyper-markets cropping up almost every other Andalucian city and town.

Other than those small stores, family run shops and commodity specific stores in the streets, shopping malls-as a part of modern culture has replaced the traditional style small business. In the past few years, the retail business has taken the whole world by storm and hence many tourist friendly Spanish cities.

If you are visiting any inland Andalucian town or resort on the Costa del Sol, you will easily find commercial complex and shopping centres near the town centre or in the vicinity of some popular tourist spot or residential development. These large shopping centres in Andalucia are not only for all compulsive shoppers, but also families who want to buy everything under one roof.

Shopping malls are not only considered shoppers’ paradise but also alternative leisure points other than those tourist spots and amusement parks. Many shopping centres on the Costa del Sol and Andalucian cities are designed and developed into shopping arcades as well as leisure centres to keep visitors occupied with various free time activities.

Well, a shopping mall is not the place to buy any souvenir item or any special handicraft product; shopping centres are more designed to meet general shopping of residents: daily-used household goods, trendy clothes and shoes.

A shopping complex in Marbella and a similar one in Granada or Jaen in Andalucia function just the very same way. There are many shops, including some of the well-known clothing, jewellery and designer brands, eateries, supermarket, state-of-the-art cinema, and children’s park etc in every shopping complex.

Crowd in Shopping Centre

The La Canada in Marbella, El Corte Ingles in Puerto Banus, the large Miramar Centro Commercial Parque in Fuengirola, the Plaza Mayor Commercial Shopping Centre and Rincon de la Victoria in Malaga, El Ingenio Commercial Centre in Velez Malaga, and the La Trocha Centro Comercial In Coin, among others are counted as some of the finest shopping arcades in Andalucia.

As areas like Costa del Sol, especially towns like Marbella and Estepona, have become favourite holiday spots for foreign tourists, shopping centres also provide the visitors the best opportunity to shop irrespective of their local language skill. One doesn’t have to open the phrase book every time s/he needs to buy a product. Just pick it and offer the plastic money for transaction… is that simple!

For Spaniards, shopping centres are not only to find their daily use goods, but also to pass some leisure time with friends and family during the weekends. You will find shopping complexes in Andalucia, as any other parts of the world, crowded all day long – with many visitors either shopping, or drinking and eating or browsing with the entire family.
