Paul from Grafix House Spain

PaulOur Marbella People Interview today is with Paul from Grafix House Spain. Paul started design and printing in Spain over 12 years ago and business has flourished over the years and now Grafix House enjoys a long list of hundreds of clients all over the Costa del Sol.

How long have you lived in Spain and how long is your business established?

Paul: I have been over here now for about 17 years, so I think I will give it another 50 years or so and then decide if I am going to stay here permanently. I started my printing business about 12 years ago and Grafix House now has hundreds of clients.

Why did you choose Marbella?

Paul: I came here on holiday and liked it so much I decided to give up my job in the Derby CID and live here.

Tell us your greatest business or personal accomplishment?

Paul: My greatest business accomplishment would be Grafix House. Having never done printing before, my friend Ronnie Hall and I decided to start a newspaper on the coast and as there was no free property newspaper in those days, without any experience at all, we launched ‘The Property News”. It was hit and miss at first, but we ran it successfully for years. From there came more and more varied print work and now today, we have The Puzzle Plus magazine that goes from Marbella to Benalmadena and many clients for everything from Business cards and flyers, to full holiday and property brochures.

Why would you recommend the Costa del Sol for business and Lifestyle?

Paul: It is very cosmopolitan and is an excellent launch pad for our two children Daniel and Nicole. The life style is very laid back and providing you don’t let yourself lapse into the boozy holiday mood and keep your feet firmly on the ground, it’s a great place to be.

If you could change one thing about Spain, what would it be?

Paul: The language!

Describe yourself in 3 words.

Paul: Determined – hard working – modest!

What is your favourite Restaurant in Marbella?

Paul: The Garden Bar at Rocas del Mar for three reasons.

1. The food is excellent (and I am a very experienced carnivore) and there is great entertainment and barbeque on a Tuesday night.

2. As it is right on the beach, there is plenty of safe area that the kids can go off and play and leave you in peace.

3. The kids can go off and leave you in peace!

What is the last film you saw at the Cinema or DVD?

Paul: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory (I took the kids honest!)

What advice would you give to someone moving to Spain?

Paul: Do as the Indians did and avoid the cowboys!

Name one other business you would recommend on the Costa del Sol and why?

Paul: I would recommend Premier water. Not just because have a great ionised water system for the pool and house, but because their professionalism and after sales service is excellent.
