A Few Facts about Oscar Wilde:
Oscar Wilde was a brilliant scholar but also increasingly rebellious.
Oscar Wilde, unfortunately, died penniless and lonely in 1900, after two years of hard prison labor resulting from a sexual affair with the Marquess of Queensberry’s son. He is buried, along with many other luminaries of his era, in Pere LaChaise Cemetery in Paris.
Oscar had two half -sisters who died in a fire – one was dancing close to the coal fire and her dress caught light. Tragically her sister tried to also put out the fire and died.
Along with his theatrical stance, Oscar Wilde is also known for his flamboyant fashion sense. He was well known for the green carnations he wore in his jacket lapel.
