Andy Hope 1930 Exhibition at CAC Malaga


The Contemporary Art Centre of Málaga (CAC Malaga) is showing Robin Dostoyevsky by Andy Hope 1930. This is the first solo exhibition in Spain on one of Germany’s most internationally celebrated artists. The exhibition will be on display until June 19th.

Robin Dostoyevsky by Andy Hope 1930:

The exhibition comprises of nine, large-format works and a sculptural piece, all produced between 2010 and 2011 which have never been exhibited before.

Robin Dostoyevsky by Andy Hope 1930 is an imaginary merging of Robin, Batman´s sidekick, and the Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky, the forerunner of Existentialism, and shows a diverse collection of characters, symbols and icons that characterise the work of this artist who is devoted to comics and science fiction.

Andy Hope 1930:

Andy Hope 1930 (born Andreas Hofer) draws on the universe of the imagination using a vast range of media, and extending the realm of the pictorial from flat image to relief, sculpture, installation and meta-installation. His art takes equally from real and fictional subjects, dissolving the difference between the two so as to create a phantasmagoria that is rooted in collective culture.

Hope’s work is made up of superheroes from the Golden and Silver Age of Comics such as Flash Gordon, Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman with futuristic pieces including spaceships and laser beams.

Andy Hope 1930 lives and works in Berlin.
