British blues and rock musician legend, John Mayall, will be giving a fantastic live performance at the Cervantes Theatre in Malaga on Sunday the 19th of June at 8pm.

John Mayall:

Born in 1933 from a humble working class background (shadowed by World War II) in Macclesfield near Manchester, John Mayall, guitarist, organist, singer and harmonica player, began to develop his own personality into the blues world at a young age with the help of his neighbours piano, second-hand harmonicas and borrowed guitars.

He grew up listening to his jazz guitarist father’s extensive record collection and was influenced by such greats as Leadbelly, Albert Ammons, Pinetop Smith, and Eddie Lang.

John Mayall has been heavily influential in the careers of many gifted instrumentalists, including Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Mick Taylor, Don “Sugarcane” Harris, Harvey Mandel, Larry Taylor, Aynsley Dunbar, Hughie Flint, Jon Hiseman, Dick Heckstall-Smith, Andy Fraser, Johnny Almond, Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington.

Eric Clapton, Peter Green, and Mick Taylor joined Mayall’s band, the Bluesbreakers, in the mid-’60s, before going on to join Cream, Fleetwood Mac, and the Rolling Stones respectively. The Bluesbreakers acted as a kind of finishing school for these leading British guitarists throughout the 60´s.

John Mayall is still hugely influential today in the world of music and in 2005 he was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the Honours List.
