Sonrise Studios in Marbella presents country singer and songwriter Rattlesnake Annie on the 3rd of September.

About Rattlesnake Annie:

Rattlesnake Annie was born of Scotch-Irish and Cherokee Indian heritage on a cotton and tobacco farm in Paris, Tennessee near the Kentucky border, halfway between Memphis and Nashville, at the crossroads of Blues, Jazz, Country and Bluegrass. Rattlesnake Annie earned her nickname for her respect of snakes when she was a child!

A gifted guitarist from a young age, she began recording in 1974 and became the first female country musician to tour the Eastern Bloc countries in Europe. Rattlesnake Annie went on to become the first American country performer to sign a recording contract with Sony Music Japan in 1990 that has resulted in a continuing relationship with the release of multiple albums and concert tours.

“It’s always been a hassle because they can never put me in a slot. What bin does the record store use for my records? … When I signed with Sony Japan and they put me in their world music department, for the first time I felt free and understood.”

She has collaborated with some of Japan’s greatest artists including Kato Tokiko, Minami Kostetsu and Kosaka Kazuya.

A wandering gypsy musician in the truest sense, Rattlesnake Annie has lived for 18 years in southern Spain, in the heart of the Andalusian Gypsy Flamenco music culture, where she has developed her skills as a Flamenco guitarist, singer and recording artist.
