Integration Day-Out in Mijas

An Integration Day-Out is being organized for all Mijas citizens by the Mijas Time Bank, in collaboration with the Foreigners Department.

This social get-together will take place on Wednesday the 23rd of February at 9.30am, meeting up on the main square of Mijas Village.

From there a guided walk will take you through the village exploring and discovering its history, culture, art and handcrafts, including a visit to the Mijas Folk Museum.

Explanations will also be given in English and French. The walk will finish at “El carromato de Max”, the Museum of Miniatures, one of the most important of its kind with works from over 40 countries including a shrunken skull by an Indian tribe.

About Mijas:

Founded in prehistoric times by the Tertessians and known as Tamisa by the Romans, the name was later changed again to Mixa and finally to Mijas. The Romans were replaced by the Visigoths, and then by the Moors after 714.

Mijas Pueblo is better known as one of the “Andalucian white villages” as its houses are typically white washed with its twisting narrow cobbled lanes (not for the faint-hearted) and pretty flowers enveloping the village. Thousands of tourists come to Mijas every summer where they have the chance to enjoy the wonderful local food and the stunning views of the Coast.

For more information and inscriptions on the Integration Day-Out, please contact the Mijas Time Bank on: +34 952 663 574 or +34 952 664 057 or by e-mail: bdtmijas@mijas.es.

The event is free of charge but previous inscription will be necessary.
