The Bellydance is one of the most ancient dances of all times.
Its name in Arabic is RAKS SHARKI which literally means ORIENTAL DANCE. This sensual dance combines elements found in regions of the FAR EAST and NORTH AFRICA.
The name “Belly Dance” came into being in the 19th century when Europeans travelled to hot, exotic countries seeking cultures and traditions different from their own. These travellers, surprised by the movements of the hips and belly, named the dance the belt dance.
