Ismael Serrano to perform at Teatro Cervantes in Malaga

Spanish singer/songwriter and guitarist, Ismael Serrano, will be performing at the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga on Sunday the 1st May at 7pm.

Ismael Serrano:

Born in 1974 in Madrid, Ismael Serrano is popular in both Spain and Latin America, where he is well-known for his sensitive and often political lyrics and diverse musical influences.

Influenced by a Latin style known as Nueva Trova (a movement in Cuban music that emerged around 1967/68 after the Cuban Revolution of 1959), Ismael Serrano began composing music as a teenager, adding his music to the work of important poets.

In 1994, after studying physics at university, Ismael Serrano began singing at small venues in Madrid, working his way around the café circuit. He eventually signed up to PolyGram in 1996, releasing his first album titled Atrapados En Azul, with songs such as “Papá cuéntame otra vez”, “Vértigo” and “Amo tanto la vida” that became anthems for young people all over Spain and Latin America.

He was nominated Best New Artist for the Spanish Musical Awards of the “Sociedad General de Autores y Editores” and went on to very successfully tour Spain and Latin America. His well-known record, Los Paraísos Desiertos, was released in the year 2000.
