Unicaja Foundation is organizing the second edition of a series of jazz concerts, Ciclo de Jazz, with 4 fantastic performances starting with Joshua Edelman on the 21st January.

Joshua Edelman Quintet

Joshua Edelman (piano), Manuel Machado (trumpet), Moises Porro (timbales), Yelsi Heredia (bass), Betramón González (congas).

The Joshua Edelman Quintet is one of the most successful jazz bands in Spain, touring all over the world playing at large venues, festivals and clubs and now to perform at Ciclo de Jazz in Malaga. It´s influences, both musical and cultural, come from African American, Cuban, Classical, Salsa and Brazilian genres.

Chano Dominguez Trio

Chano Dominguez (piano), Felipe Cabrera (bass), Inor Sotolongo (drums).

Born in Cadiz, Chano Domínguez is one of the most in demand musicians on the Spanish music scene, influenced by jazz and flamenco. He has worked with an extensive range of artists including Enrique Morente, Estrella Morente, Martirio, Marta Valdés, Paco de Lucía, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock, Jack DeJohnette and Wynton Marsalis with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra.

Madeline Bell + Quartet

Madeline Bell (vocals), David Lenker (piano), Enrique Oliver (tenor sax), Francisco Pose (bass) and Javier Forero (drums).

Born in New Jersey in 1942, Madeline Bell was raised by her grandmother, who was originally instrumental in encouraging Madeline’s natural singing talent at the age of five. Regarded as one of the most versatile singers on today´s scene, Madeline Bell has sang with Elton John, Tom Jones and Cliff Richard and collaborated with Joe Cocker on the number one hit record, With A Little Help From My Friends.

Cyrus Chestnut Trio + Jesse Davis

Cyrus Chestnut (piano), Jesse Davis (alto sax), Reggie Johnson (bass), Douglas Sides (drums).

Born in 1963, Cyrus Chestnut started his musical career at the young age of three, and by the age of 6 he was playing piano at the Mount Calvary Star Baptist Church in Baltimore. By the age of nine, he was studying classical music at the Peabody Preparatory Institute in Baltimore. Cyrus Chestnut is considered one of the most transcendent musicians of his generation, with a style deeply rooted in gospel, and a thorough knowledge of the jazz piano.
