The Marbella Town Hall, in association with Royal Legion British and the Municipal Department of Foreigners, is going to celebrate British International Day on June 1. The event will take place in the Paseo de la Alameda which is aimed at facilitating integration of foreign residents in Marbella.
As said by the Councillor Delegate for Tourism, Jose Luis Hernandez, the celebration of national days of different groups of foreign residents in the municipality is a part of the Plan of Action ‘Marbella Open City’, established by the delegation and foreign tourists for the same objective to reach the international community of Marbella.
The plan aims to promote both corporate and social integration of the international community, particularly to further collaboration with different nationalities. And in case of Britain, with the largest number of registered voters i.e. more than 5,000, it is ideal to mark this day in order to encourage registration in the municipality.
The president of the British Association of Marbella (BAM), Andrew Anderson, has commented that it is the second year that this event is organised, in which an extensive program of activities are contemplated such as dances, Celtic, Scottish pipers and small parts of works theatre, in addition to a sample of British food.
Presently, there are various groups of international communities in Marbella, and the aim of local authority is to make better relationship and collaboration among different communities for the betterment of both social and economic scenario of the city.
British Association of Marbella, founded in 1987, is a social club open for all nationalities who speak some English. BAM is quite active in organising routine talks to discuss various issues in relation to their business and living in Marbella. It also invites all members for Wednesday coffee morning, monthly lunches along with trips and excursions.
