Short film competition in Marbella

The Marbella Town Hall through the Municipal Delegation of Tourism is facilitating a short a film festival competition “36 horas de supervivencia filmica”, planned to be held entirely in the town between 6th and 9th October, 2010.

Organised by the company Cinemavip with support from Marbella Film Office, the festival aims to promote the city and its touristic amenities through the ideas of promising cinematographers.

All filmmakers, who have registered or who are willing to register for the competition, will only have 36 hour time to roll and edit their short films. In fact, they have to film their ideas in 24 hours, then edit and present it in next 12 hours.

The works will then be open for public screening which will be awarded various prizes and awards in recognition of the talents of key participants. This first edition will deliver 5,000 euros to the winner and 2,000 euros to the second short, while special awards will be given away to Best Actor, Best Actress and Best Cinematography, among others.

Those interested in joining can find the rules on the website, where you’ll be sent the cast and the synopsis, among other characteristics, to receive the locations and hours of filming.

As described by the municipal delegation, the celebration of this short film competition in Marbella is very interesting from any perspective both training young talents, promote the municipality as a film set, and the promotion of tourism at Marbella.

Competition Itinerary

October 6 – Official opening day with the presentation of credentials and specific locations of filming.

October 7 – A 24 hour time for the filming.

October 8 – Short films will be published in the IES Guadalpin.

October 9 – A gala event at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos (Palace of Exhibitions and Conferences) from 2200 hours, where the films will be screened and proceed to the awards ceremony.
