Spanish Women´s Open at La Quinta Golf & Country Club

The Spanish Women´s Open, a prelude to the Solheim Cup, will be held at La Quinta Golf & Country Club between the 15th and 18th of September.

Sponsored by the Patronato de Turismo de la Costa del Sol, this competition guarantees the presence of the best female players in Europe, whose top stars will play only five days later, the spectacular confrontation between the European and American team in Ireland.

This Spanish tournament will be the last chance to see in action many of the golfers who will defend the European honour at the Solheim Cup 2011.

The tournament has the support of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and the Royal Andalusian Golf Federation and is the first time that it has been held at La Quinta.

La Quinta Golf & Country Club:

Founded in 1989, La Quinta Golf & Country Club has gained internationally recognized fame for its high quality. It is one of the most active Costa del Sol golf resorts and has been designed by Manuel Piñero. The 27-hole complex, with the prestigious Melia Hotel has three 9-hole courses combinable amongst each other and this way increasing playing options.

As usual, one hundred and twenty professional players, with the most prominent figures of the Old Continent, including Spanish players, and six amateurs, will fight during four days for the title of the Open de España Femenino 2011, even though only the 60 top ranked at the end of the second round will have the opportunity to continue the tournament after passing the required cut.
