The Salon Varietes Theatre presents Jack and the Beanstalk in Fuengirola

The Salon Varietes Theatre in Fuengirola are presenting a childrens classic, Jack and the Beanstalk, from the 2nd to the 6th of January, directed by Peter Mitchell and with choreography by Peter Height.

Jack and the Beanstalk:

Jack and the Beanstalk is a story about a young man who sells his mother’s cow for magic beans instead of money! His mother gets quite cross and throws the beans away. The next morning the young man notices a gigantic beanstalk that has grown behind the house. Jack climbs into the sky and finds himself in the realm of a giant…

A couple of Jack and the Beanstalk Facts:

Jack and the Beanstalk is a fairy tale of English origin which was first published anonymously in London by Benjamin Tabart in 1807 as The History of Jack and the Bean-Stalk.

The giant’s cry of Fee! Fie! Foe! Fum!” was included in King Lear written by William Shakespeare.

Characters in fairy tales usually do not have surnames. They are supposed to be “the average person” and represent everyone. “Jack” is a nickname for the name John, and is one of the most common men’s names, so the male character in a fairy tale was often called “Jack”.

As for the giant in “Jack and the Beanstalk”, no name was given by the author!

Matinees are on Monday 3rd and Wednesday the 5th of January at 3pm and in the evenings every night at 8pm except Sunday at 7pm.
