About 400 students of the Municipal Sports Schools will participate in the VIII Spring Rhythmic Gymnastics tournament (VIII Torneo de Primavera de Gimnasia Rítmica) to be held on Saturday, March 27th, from 10:00 pm at the Palais des Sports de San Pedro Alcantara.

This event has now been a tradition within the timeframe of Municipal Sports Schools in which girls get an excellent opportunity to enjoy the sports they love and show their talent to family and friends. Such sporting events also provide exposure to girls in their training as an athlete.

As informed in the municipal website: this event will also serve as a “twinning” with other Municipal Schools Rhythmic Gymnastics of the Costa del Sol, to be invited to participate in order that both coaches and gymnasts and spectators are aware of the trend that followed in other municipalities and will be an experience much more rewarding for all.

Among the participant schools, there is the Municipal Sports Schools Municipality, the Estadio Municipal School Gym (Marbella), Municipal School Tecnificación Center (Marbella), Municipal School Sports Palace (San Pedro), Escuela Municipal de Alhaurín de la Torre, and the Escuela Municipal de Estepona.

Performances will be for different categories like prebenjamin, benjamin, alevin, child, junior and juvenile, while contestants are allowed to perform single, duos, trios, or in group. Besides, it’s up to the performers whether to use any device or not, and which may include strings, balls, mallets or tape.

The competition welcomes participation of all pupils, ages between 4 and 17 years, and hence it’s a step in the training for young women facing a future as professional gymnasts. The trophy presentation is scheduled at 1400 hours, although hours may vary depending on the number of entries, the deadline will remain open until Friday.
