Zahara de la Sierra is one of the small white towns of Andalucia. Perched on a mountain and overlooking a valley and a beautiful man-made lake, this pretty town is worth a visit. Because of its location between Ronda and Seville, the town was originally a Moorish outpost as it was the perfect site for a castle to be built to serve as a fortress in case of attack. The remains of the Moorish castle still exist which was built in the 8th century and rebuilt again in the 14th century.
