The Contemporary Art Centre of Málaga (CAC Malaga) is exhibiting the works of Guillermo Pérez Villalta, a Spanish painter, architect and sculptor and one of the most representative artists of postmodernism in Spain. The exhibition will be running until October 9th 2011.
Guillermo Pérez Villalta Exhibition:
CAC Málaga is presenting the exhibition Las Metamorfosis y Otras Mitologías (The Metamorphoses and other Mythologies), a selection of paintings produced in the last decade by Guillermo Pérez Villalta.
With more than 40 paintings and an exciting series of earlier drawings that have never been exhibited before , CAC Málaga is exhibiting one of the most versatile and prolific artists working in Spain today.
A champion of beauty and pleasure, Guillermo Pérez Villalta has been inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses to structure the exhibition into four principal themes: Old and New Testament stories, Combats and Battles, Patriarchy and The Myth of the Artist. This figurative painter draws on a range of interesting ideas and styles which includes art history, architecture, music, film and even the fantasy world of Walt Disney!
Born in 1948 in Tarifa, Guillermo Pérez Villalta first began his early years studying architecture. Although he dropped out of his studies, architecture has become a discipline that has continued to influence his art throughout his life, that he claims he creates rather than paints.
