British artist, Dexter Dalwood will be exhibiting, for the first time in Spain, his work at the Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) in Malaga until the 28th November.
This exciting exhibition is a collection of contemporary paintings and collages made over the last decade reflecting his personal view point of some of the important events and personalities that have marked the twentieth century.
Dexter Dalwood uses the past to try to explain contemporary culture. The exhibition is organized by the Tate St Ives in collaboration with the CAC Malaga and the FRAC Champagne-Ardenne.
About Dexter Dalwood:
Dexter Dalwood was born in 1960 in Bristol and is based in London. Dalwood received his BA from the St Martins College of Art in London in 1985 and went on to study for his MA at the Royal College of Art from 1988-1990.
He has shown his work internationally in many significant and important exhibitions including the 2002 Sydney Biennial, “Hollywood is a Verb” at Gagosian Gallery in New York, the 19th John Moore’s Painting Prize at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, “Die Young Stay Pretty” at the ICA London, “Remix” at Tate Liverpool and “Neurotic Realism” at the Saatchi Gallery in London. He is represented by Gagosian Gallery. In May 2010, Dexter Dalwood was short-listed for the prestigious Turner Prize.
Before becoming an artist he was a member of the punk rock band The Cortinas.
