Local artists, Ian Hunter and Lavinia Croft are presenting a joint exhibition entitled Down in the Undertow which will be running until March 25th in Malaga.
About The Artists:
Since 1999, Professor Ian Hunter has lived and worked in Spain, devoting himself exclusively, to his paintings and drawings. He was educated in the arts and works in a provocative and direct way with the human figure, where each painting is a risky journey of exploration. Starting from images of everyday life, these are transformed into scenes of human grief and delight which sometimes echo themes of previous centuries.
He has exhibited widely in the UK, including The Royal Academy, the Barbican and the Hayward Gallery, and has work on show in a number of public and private collections.
Lavinia Croft bases her works on images that, through subtle layers, capture the essence and feeling of her subjects and the intense emotions of people, objects and places, in a very individual style.
After a rather nomadic childhood, moving around Britain, and travelling extensively for 10 years through the Far East and Australia, she discovered the fundamental changes of light and colour in the landscapes where she lived.
Their work is that of accomplished British artists exposed to the vitality of life in contemporary Spain….an incendiary mixture!
