On the 12th of November, the Gibraltar MINI Club (GMC) will host the 1st MINI DASH, an event expected to attract a sizeable number of these iconic cars to Gibraltar.
The idea for the MINI Dash was conceived during the Fifth National ‘Concentración of Club MasMini (+Mini) held in Merida, Badajoz in October 2011, an event attended by members of the GMC.
It was here that the GMC and Club +Mini agreed to collaborate in creating a MINI event based in Gibraltar and which would also include a drive through the well-known picturesque and awe-inspiring route through the pueblos blancos.
The GMC and +Mini have also extended an invitation to the Mini Marbella Club and the Club Locos del Mini as well as MINI owners and enthusiasts from Gibraltar and Spain to participate in the MINI DASH.
About The MINI Dash:
Saturday 12th November:
9am: The MINI DASH commences at Casemates Square with the arrival of MINIs, both classic and new. The Gibraltar Harley Davidson Club will, weather permitting, be assisting with the provision of escorts and marshals during the DASH.
After some refreshment at one of Casemate’s most popular venues, the visitors will, no doubt, wish to avail themselves of the enticements offered by retailers in Main Street before congregating at one of Gibraltar’s best known cafés to enjoy a traditional English Breakfast.
2.00pm: The assembled MINIs will drive through Main Street and commence the DASH route which will take them to the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, through Queensway and Devil’s Tower Road to Catalan Bay and Europa Point stopping at various points to take advantage of the spectacular photo opportunities presented by the Rock and its impressive locations.
After the completion of the DASH, the vehicles will gather at the Coach Park and the participants will meet up at a well-known dine and dance venue for the MINI DASH Dinner where various gifts will be raffled, prizes awarded and presentations made.
Sunday 13th November:
Participants leave Gibraltar and make their way to Castellar to commence a drive through Jimena de la Frontera and Alcala de los Gazules. At the end of this route, and after lunch, the Gibraltar contingent of the DASH will take leave of the remaining participants and return to the Rock until next year as it is envisaged that the MINI Dash will become an annual feature in Gibraltar’s busy calendar of events.
All in all, the MINI Dash promises to be an event-packed occasion for the participants and one which will provide a vivid and colourful visual spectacle for all to enjoy.
