Malaga Exhibition – The Creative World of David Lynch

Better known for his award winning films such as Wild at Heart, Blue Velvet and Elephant Man, David Lynch first trained as a painter and will be exhibiting his works entitled Action Reaction. The Creative World of David Lynch in Malaga until March 8th.

The exhibition includes 2 sets of Lithographic prints that were created at the historic Atelier Idem in the Montparnasse section of Paris, entitled The Paris Suite, and The Women.

About David Lynch – The Painter:

Many of his works are very dark in colour. It is of no surprise that he is inspired by 20 century artist, Francis Bacon, who is known for his raw and isolated imagery.

David Lynch himself says “I wouldn’t know what to do with colour. Colour to me is too real. It’s limiting. It doesn’t allow too much of a dream. The more you throw black into a colour, the more dreamy it gets…” much like his television drama serious, Twin Peaks, a critical success all over the world with a cult fan base to match.

You go by most paintings, and they don’t stop you. You can walk by so much because it’s merely beautiful. I like to feel that you could bite my paintings. Not to eat them, to hurt them. I like to feel like I’m painting with my teeth. I call my painting `bad’ because bad painting has its own beauty. It’s not a designer tapestry or a commercial hype. It makes you react to it.
