Marbella welcomes Vuelta Ciclista a Espana


The Cycling Tour of Spain, or the Vuelta Ciclista a Espana, is going to be held this year from August 28 until September 19.  In its 65th edition, this sporting event will also run through Costa del Sol town Marbella.

On Sunday 29th and Monday 30th August, the stage of runs will pass through Marbella in its way to Malaga. The run to Marbella from the Sevillian city Alcala de Guadaira is in the second stage of the cycling tour.

Earlier in the month of July, Marbella Mayoress Angeles Munoz in a press statement has stressed on the importance of being a hosting city for Vuelta Ciclista a Espana and for any elite sporting activity of such magnitude.

In this regard, the Councillor has stated that the city has been the scene of several first-rate events including the quarterfinals of the Davis Cup, Grand Prix Rhythmic Gymnastics, Andalucía WTA Tennis Experience, among others.

Marbella, with its all-round tourist flavour amid a pleasant weather, truly provides a lot quality to this event. The city will play the host on Sunday while all cyclists on third stage will begin their journey the next day through Plaza del Mar towards Malaga.

As informed by the Town Hall, 1800 hotel reservations have already been made for all 22 teams and 200 runners in addition to other numerous people who manage this sporting event of Vuelta Ciclista a Espana.

While celebrating its 75th anniversary, the cycling tour is in its 65th edition . The event will be getting off to a start in the historic city of Seville, against the backdrop of the La Maestranza Bullring.

Hundreds of racers, technical personnel and numerous spectators have already given their thumbs in the past years, and once again they all join for the success of the excitingly vibrant event of three-week Spanish race.
