Romeria Festival in Benahavis


ROMERIA VIRGEN DEL ROSARIO -Romeria Festival in Benahavis – Every 7th of October at La Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Rosario, the Patron Saint of Benahavis, a mass is celebrated with the pilgrims arriving from the village by carriage or on foot. Thereafter this local fiesta (under the shelter of private and municipal marquees) begins with food, drinking and dancing being the main events.

All the Benahavilenos and the foreign community are welcome. The party goes on throughout the night for the people living in the Benahavis area.

This beautiful white-washed village is famous for its fabulous restaurants and draws thousands of visitors all year to sample it’s delicious cuisine. It is situated 500 metres above sea level and it’s mountain views must be seen.

The village is also well known for it’s fiestas and for a week in August, the village becomes one big party with 5 days of non-stop live music, food stalls, bars and entertainment for every age to enjoy. Little sleep is had by the village locals.

Romeria Festival in Benahavis Program as follows below:

8:30 – 10:15 – Enjoy hot chocolate and churros in the Avenida de Andulcia in the village centre.
10:30 – The pilgrimage starts by foot from the village down the winding mountain road to the chapel where the party takes place.
13:00 – Mass in the Chapel
14:00 – A spectacular equestrian show will be performed.
14:30 – The orchestra will play Aromas del Sur that will start the party mood for the rest of the day and night….
