The Andalucia Valderrama Masters 2010

96 players will compete from October 28-31 in Sotogrande at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters.

The Club de Golf Valderrama will be hosting the last event of the year on the European Tour’s home ground before the season-ending finale of The Dubai World Championship in a month.

First prize is a massive €500,000 from a €3 million prize fund at Valderrama, which is one of the most famous venues in the golfing world.

The magnificent layout of Valderrama, designed by Robert Trent Jones Snr, has been where some of the most breath-taking moments in golfing history have occured.

Facts about Valderrama:

Valderrama has vast experience in hosting world-class events, having hosted the World Golf Championships in 1999 and 2000 and then 16 editions of the Volvo Masters. It was also the venue for two World Golf Championship American Express tournaments, won by Tiger Woods in 1999 and then by Mike Weir in 2000.

After Valderrama the Tour will culminate with the Dubai World Championship in November. The Number 1 to 60 players in The Race to Dubai (ranked according to their earnings from all events on The European Tour International Schedule) will qualify for the Dubai World Championship at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai from November 25-28, 2010.

The Valderrama tournament, this month, will be the last chance for players to improve their ranking in The Race to Dubai. The US$7,500,000 competition spanning all 47 events of this years European Tour International Schedule, with a bonus pool of $7.5 million, will be distributed among the lucky top 15 players at the end of the season.
