Marbella City Theatre to stage the play ‘Fugadas’


On Saturday, March 20th, at 21.00, theatre ‘Ciudad de Marbella’ (Marbella City Theatre) will stage the play Fugadas (Fugada means Runaway or Escape), starring Maria Galiana and Berta Ojea. This play is framed in the Cultural Events of February and March, as scheduled by the municipal delegation of culture.

The play is based on the text of the French dramatists Pierre Palmade and Christophe Duthuron, directed by Britain’s Tamzin Townsend. Regarded as the Spanish theatre queen, the British director has had several hits to her credit.

It talks about two women who meet at a highway at three in the morning while they hitchhike. They want to escape from their existing lifestyle in one last chance to change their fate and seek adventure. One is an elderly woman recently escaped from a nursing home (Maria Galiana) and the other is a housewife, bored and tired (Berta Ojea) who escapes her life as mother and wife.

The play is full of interesting situations, many of them absurd and hilarious, through which this peculiar duo eventually learns the essence of friendship and life.

Cast

Born in Seville, Maria Galiana (1935) is a well-known face in Spanish theatre and movie scene. She has a Degree in Philosophy and Letters, and also served as professor of art history at a public high school until he made her film debut in 1985, now succeeds on the small screen with his role in the popular television series Cuéntame cómo pasó.

Berta Ojea, is a Galician film actress and theater personality. The role that gave her more popularity is that of Ophelia in the two film adaptations of Mortadelo and Philemon.
