The 4th edition of photographic Marathon is going to be held on May 9 in San Pedro. The deputy mayor of San Pedro Alcantara, Miguel Troyano, and the Municipal Delegation of Culture, Carmen Diaz, in a presentation ceremony for the same, expressed their anticipation for a good number of participants after the success of its previous editions.

As said by Miguel Troyano, the objective of the marathon is the dissemination of photography and encouragement of citizen participation in municipal activities, while raising awareness of San Pedro through the photographic workshop.

All amateur photographers are invited to attend the event with digital camera within the two categories that have been established, such as adult and child (in the latter case, up to 14 years old).

All participants are asked to register on the same day and submit up to 24 photographs at Church Square, with a fee of three euros for adults, while it is free for children. However, the maximum number of entry has been restricted to 100.

The Marathon will start at 10 hours of the day May 9 (Sunday) 2010, in the Plaza de la Iglesia, San Pedro Alcantara and end at 17 hours the same day and in the same place. Before the start of the Marathon, contestants will receive the script for the contest, which establishes the required subjects to photograph inside the town of San Pedro Alcantara.

Considering its rising popularity, the total prize money for both adults and children has been increased to 1300 euros. Thus, in the case of adults the prizes will be of 400, 250 and 100 euros plus a diploma each for the respective 1st, 2nd and 3rd winner, while these are 300, 150 and 100 euros for children.

The jury will consist of the President of OAL Arte y Cultura (OAL Arts and Culture) and two professional photographers of the locality who will take the final call on May 17. A total of 30 selected photographs will be exhibited in the following week at the Exhibitions Municipal de San Pedro Alcantara.
